It’s my favorite time of the year! I LOVE the holidays for so many different reasons–the gathering of family and friends, the joy of giving gifts to the ones you love, the baking of xmas cookies, decorating the tree–it’s all my favorite! But one of the many things I like about the holidays as a Pediatric Physical Therapist is helping families choose gifts that will help their little ones learn and grow. So here’s my list of great ideas for holiday gifts for the PRESCHOOLERS (my absolute favorite age group!) in your life! Happy Shopping!
An absolute classic trike – the Radio Flyer Tricycle! This is the trike that I ALWAYS recommend to families. You don’t need anything special with a tricycle. The kids just need to learn how to pedal and work on their bilateral coordination and balance! That’s it!
I LOVE Mr. Potato Head! It’s such a great toy to work on fine motor skills as well as encouraging the kids to be creative and use their imagination. This is a great set!
Stomp Rockets are so fun! This is the Junior set so aimed at more of the preschool population. The kids have to step or jump on the base in order to get the rocket to blast off so they’re working on their core and leg strength, and then if they want to try and catch the foam rocket on the way back down, they’re working on eye-hand coordination!
Radio Flyer is a great company with really high quality products, so I love that they have a scooter for the younger age group. The base is a little wider, and there are two wheels in the front and one in the back allowing more stability for developing bodies.
Melissa & Doug Pretend Play Home Cleaning
Okay, I just love that Melissa & Doug came out with this cleaning set. My kids always wanted to help me clean, so having this cleaning set for this age group is such a great idea! Nice job, Melissa & Doug!
LEGO Classic Creative Brick Box
I am a HUGE fan of LEGO. Yes, the sets for the older kids and adults are absolutely amazing, but honestly, having this Classic Brick Box for the younger kiddos allows for them to create whatever their heart desires, and I couldn’t love that more. Use those imaginations!
