Potty Training Essentials: What You’ll Actually Need

Potty training is a milestone of both parenting as well as of childhood. Whether you choose to do Infant Potty Training (Be sure to read my book, Infant Potty Training: Yes, It’s Possible!), potty train your toddler or wait until your child is preschool age, it’s always an adventure 😉 I chose to do Infant Potty Training with two of my children, and it was absolutely wonderful! One of my children was potty trained during her toddler years, and like I said, it’s all an adventure!

I have compiled a list of Potty Training Essentials, so whenever you choose to start potty training, you’ll be ready to go! Happy Shopping!

Jool Baby Potty Seat

This is a great potty seat insert for smaller bottoms. That was one thing that I did find a little more challenging when potty training an infant was finding a potty seat insert with a small enough hole that their tiny bottom wouldn’t slide through the opening (granted you are holding on to them). And make sure to use the splash guard (I trained two boys, so trust me!) 😉

Jool Floor Potty Seat

This is an option for a floor potty seat, if that works better for you and your baby. Again, this seat’s opening is a little smaller than others so it’s better for smaller bottoms. This is sometimes an easier option if you are training a toddler who can just go over to their own potty when they have to go, and you don’t have to worry about lifting them onto the regular toilet.

Potty Training Underwear 12-24 months

One of the cutest things about potty training infants is that you get to see them in cute little underwear, which I just thought was adorable. I did have a difficult time finding small enough training underwear for them because of choosing to do infant potty training. These training underwear go down to 12 months, so these are good for little bottoms, but they have larger sizes too for toddlers and preschoolers.

Absorbent Protective Bed Pad

These protective bed pads were awesome for any nighttime accidents that happened. Instead of having to change the entire bed at 3:00 a.m., we could just take this off and put a new one on. It’s a pad that goes on top of the bed sheet and tucks in the sides of the bed to stay in place. I highly recommend these during nighttime training!

Absorbent Cloths

I used these during the day when my baby was old enough to sit and play. I would frequently have them go bare bottomed during the day because I was taking them fairly frequently to the bathroom, so I found it easier to put an absorbent cloth underneath their bottom while sitting on the floor and playing.

Sandra Boynton Boxed Set

And because potty training and reading sometimes go hand in hand, here is one of my favorite children’s authors for infants and toddlers, Sandra Boynton. If you know her books, you love them!

Dr. Seuss Little Green Boxed Set

And here is another favorite children’s author of mine, the legendary Dr. Seuss. You can’t go wrong with his books! Kids love them!

I hope this list was helpful! Please message me with any questions. I’m happy to help 🙂 Happy Potty Training!
